Bible Verses on Happiness

Are you happy? Do you not want to be happy? Do you know anyone who does not want to be happy?

I believe everyone wants to be happy and everyone deserves to be happy. Happiness is one of the basic important things that we all strive for in this life. it is our birth right to be happy. Even God wants us to be happy. But the hard fact is we often find it not so easy to attain happiness. Yet we would do almost anything in the pursuit of happiness. We would try to find it in any way or form that we can. Some of us try to find happiness in the material things we possess, in the things we do, in the situation that we are in. We would also create our own definition of happiness and set criteria for it, for our personal goals. While some successfully managed to have what seems to be happiness, it is questionable that it’s the true, ever-lasting happiness or not. We need to be very cautious in our pursuit of happiness so that we wouldn’t fall into a trap of ‘fake’ happiness.

This post is a modest attempt to present a collection of few Bible verses (taken from New International Version) that talk about happiness for our learning reference in hoping that it can provide us at least some clue on how to attain happiness.

One of the things we learn  as we were trying to collect the Bible verses that talk about happiness that we found that in a number of verses in some older versions the word ‘happy’ was used but in the later version, the word ‘happy’ is replaced with the word ‘blessed’. ‘Joy’ is another word that is also used to substitute the word ‘happy’.

Please note that these verses are taken out from their original context, so for better understanding of each verse you may want to read the whole respective chapter of each verse.
